What
is TOEFL?
TOEFL
is an abbreviation for the Test of English as a Foreign
Language. It is a standart test used to evaluate the
academic English profeciency of people whose native
language is not English. TOEFL scores are required by
many collages and universities in the United States
of Canada. Students should find out what the TOEFL score
requirements are from the school(s) to which they are
applying. Official TOEFL must taken at an official testing
center on a computer that is connected to the internet.
The test has four sections: listening, speaking, reading
and writing.
Purpose
of ILP's TOEFL course:
- To
help students become familiar with the internet-based
test format, direction, question, types and timing.
- To
learn how to manage test related anxiety and stress.
- To
give students opportunities to experiment with test
taking strategies and use the ones that work best
for them.
- To
improve general listening, grammar, reading, vocabulary,
writing and speaking skills.
ILP's
TOEFL courses are intended for people who already have
a good background in English and want to improve their
chances of obtaining a good score on the official test.
By taking a TOEFL preparation course at ILP, students
can increase the possibility of obtaining the score
required by the collage or university that they want
to enter in the United States or Canada.
People
who need an evaluation of their English for work purpose
should not take the TOEFL, instead, they should take
the TOEIC test (Test of English for International Communication).
The TOEIC measures the ability of people to use English
at work, whereas the TOEFL is used to evaluate people's
ability to use English for study purposes.
